Level Up Your Game Night with Return to Dark Tower (and new Covenant expansion) -- LIVE on BackerKit NOW!
about 2 years ago – Fri, Aug 12, 2022 at 10:31:31 PM

The coolest game to ever hit the planet first appeared some 40 years ago, featuring an electronic tower that lit up, played music, and somehow ran an epic fantasy adventure game with its state-of-the-art technological wizardry. That game was Dark Tower.

We released our restoration, Return to Dark Tower, to bring you that same sense of awe and wonder, pushing the boundaries of what a board game can actually do. When it was launched on Kickstarter the response was as epic as the game itself. The game is back and it's badder than ever!

👉 Check out the second printing of Return to Dark Tower!

Are you ready for Return to Dark Tower?

The menacing Dark Tower is not for the faint of heart. Here are three questions to help you assess if you are ready to charge the Tower:

1. Do you want to level up your game night?

If you loved playing Fireball Island with your family and friends, it might be time to level up the game play. Return to Dark Tower is a cooperative adventure game, where you’ll get to work together on difficult missions to take down the Tower.

2. Are you looking for a game with serious table presence?

Fireball Island took over your table with an immersive experience. The Dark Tower looms 12 inches high over the kingdom board. Lights and sounds emerge from the tower’s rotating levels and malevolent glyphs.

3. Do you like it when marbles (or skulls) wreak havoc on a game board?

Fans of Fireball Island often tell us how they loved seeing the fireball marbles explode and rumble across the map. In Return to Dark Tower, skulls drop and emerge from the Tower—you must cleanse them or risk destruction!

So, are you ready to take the leap?

👉 Check out the game in all its glory.

Why We Are Launching on BackerKit

We’re launching this project on BackerKit’s new crowdfunding platform. We’ve been working with BackerKit for a while now because we like their tools and supportive team. In fact, if you backed Fireball Island, you used BackerKit to complete your pledge and are already familiar with their surveys. We’re excited to be one of the first creators to launch on BackerKit, and to have the opportunity to help shape their new platform.

Thanks!

Fun Run Now Available
about 4 years ago – Sat, Jun 27, 2020 at 12:45:38 AM

Sorry for the extended delay, folks, but we've just released the Fun Run mode in the app. You don't need to do anything special; just download the latest version of the app from your platform of choice and get playing.

The new mode introduces a real time element to the game, making it even more frantic. Once enabled, the app plays a soundtrack that randomly and periodically plays three different sounds. If a sound plays while it's your turn, you suffer the corresponding penalty. So you'll want to move as quickly as possible. Remember, finishing your turn also means resetting the marbles on the board, so a 4-fireball Cataclysm can be positively nerve-wracking. Even when you make it to the Hello-Copter, you'll still have to act quickly so you don't lose any treasures.

Have fun!

App Update: Spider SpringsScoring
over 4 years ago – Sun, Dec 29, 2019 at 11:32:33 PM

Just a quick update to let you all know that the app has been updated to include scoring for the Spider Springs expansion. Still working on the art assets for the Fun Run update, which should be soon.

Roll for Initiative! -- Artist Poster Series!
about 5 years ago – Tue, Aug 13, 2019 at 02:14:09 AM

Gather your party and grab your potions of fire resistance. We've recently uncovered a promotional adventure module that EmberCorp made. This was a stretch goal, but moreso, a labor of love for Rob and myself (and our friend Kit, who's a great writer). We hope you enjoy.

You can download the module here: FI - Isle of the Fire Spirit

If you play, we'd love to hear how your adventure goes. Please tag us on social media.

We also recently announced an artist poster series for Fireball Island. Not a stretch goal, but something we thought would be a lot of fun. We commissioned some of our favorite artists to do a poster for the game, and we just let them run wild. And the results are pretty amazing. We've partnered with Board Game Geek to include it in their artist poster series, and we'll have it up on our website in various alternate formats soon. In the meantime, have a look and let us know what you think.

Spider Springs (and More) at Gen Con
about 5 years ago – Fri, Jun 28, 2019 at 11:56:30 PM

Hard to believe, but Gen Con is just around the corner. This is always a hectic and exciting time of the year. This year's Gen Con is shaping up to be a big one.

First things first, let's talk Fireball Island. We were able to demo the new expansion, Spider Springs, at Origins, and folks are going bananas over this one. We learned a lot developing the base game and the initial slate of expansions. We figured out which things work best and what people like the most. What's fun, and what's too fiddly. We've taken all of those lessons to heart in producing Spider Springs, and I think this is going to be a must-have expansion for die-hard FI fans. It adds a healthy dose of mayhem and whimsy while still fitting in seamlessly to the regular game. You can learn more about the expansion on its Board Game Geek Page. (Our website is in the middle of a makeover.)

For those of you heading to Gen Con, you'll have the very first chance to pick one up. We just opened up preorders via the BGG Gen Con Preview. If you click on this link, it will take you to all of the new games we have for demo and sale at Gen Con. In addition to Spider Springs, we've also get Unmatched, an update to Star Wars: Epic Duels, and we'll be running some public playtesting of Return To Dark Tower with lots of cool stuff to show. While you're there, you can preorder Spider Springs, Unmatched: Battle of Legends Vol. 1, Unmatched: Robin Hood vs. Bigfoot, and Conspiracy: The Solomon Gambit. We do have a very limited quantity of Spider Springs, and preordering ensures you can pick up a copy without having to fight the crowds. And feel free to give a thumbs up to our games in the preview, which helps other folks learn about us.

In our annual tradition, we'll be making a major announcement of an upcoming game at the Dice Tower Live Show, and we encourage everyone to drop by our Blueprints seminar to meet the team, ask questions, and get some new details about our current projects.

Most importantly, please stop by the booth (#355) and say hi to me and Rob and the rest of the team. We absolutely love meeting our backers and fans.

And if you can't make it to Gen Con, no worries. Spider Springs will be available in regular distribution in September, including our webstore.
